Jesus said that the most important commandment is to love the Lord your God with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength. Then also, love your neighbor as you love yourself. How can we make sure that we are doing this daily in this crazy busy world that is full of distractions?
In Psalm 46:19, God calls us to “be still” and pray to him. Spend time talking to Jesus throughout the day. You can pray anywhere, at any moment. Praying it so important that Jesus, God’s son, took time to pray. Be sure to take time to praise God for who He is and thank Him for all that He does. God is always right there by our side for everything that we need, in the good times and bad times. He provides so much for us that we can easily take for granted. We need to make it a priority to continually thank God, and in doing that, we’ll grow closer to Him each day.
Loving your neighbor as you love yourself is something that can be much easier said than done. We need to find ways to show others love; help carry each other’s burdens; be kind; and especially take the time to pray for everyone that we know. I’ve always thought of myself as a super kind person, but if I get too busy to share that kindness and love with my neighbors, then what good is it? I need to pray for God to guide me and make it obvious to me where he wants me to be and what he wants me to be doing; and for Him to give me the words to speak to other people to show them love. I need to make it a priority to take time each day to lift up those around me, give love, and tell others about the hope that only comes from Jesus Christ.
In the Bible, 1 John 3:24 says, “The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit He gave us.” It is my prayer that we can all make it a priority to keep God’s commands daily, and most importantly put God first and love Him above all else.
