In the Bible, Isiah 9:6 says, " For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Have you ever stopped to carefully think about these four things that Jesus is called? Ultimately, Jesus makes God known to us in different ways. Through Jesus, we can receive God's council and benefit from God's might. We can know the unconditional love that our father has for us; and we can experience the peace that only comes through knowing Jesus.
When you face trials and tribulations, or face decisions and need an answer, who do you reach out to first? A family member or friend? There is nothing wrong with asking them, but our first thought should always be to ask our heavenly Father. Jesus should always be the first one we look to for guidance, help, and comfort. Our heavenly Father knows all of our problems, and he also knows our heart and what’s best for us. We need to ensure that we make it our first priority to seek out the counsel of Jesus, as He is a wonderful counselor, and is the only one who can bring us true peace.
What an amazing gift it is to have Jesus as our "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace". As we continue to face more and more struggles in this crazy world, it is my prayer that we all continually remember to seek Jesus' counsel first for everything we need. There is no problem too big or too small for Jesus. The devil is tricky and will try anything to make us worry, fear, and separate us from Jesus. Never forget that Jesus is our almighty God who is in control. He is always right there by our side, ready to help us; all we have to do is ask and have faith that He will take care of the rest.
