God First

In the Bible, Proverbs 3:6 says, “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” This means that when we seek God’s will in everything that we do, He will show us which path to take. We please God when we put Him first, and follow His will for our lives. It’s imperative that we seek the Lord first each day, but that is so much easier said than done in this crazy busy world.

There are various things that we can do in order to seek the Lord and put Him first, and one of those things is to start and end your day talking to Him. Begin each day reading your Bible and praying, thanking Jesus for all of the blessings in your life. Continue to pray and talk with Him, bring all of your worries to Him, and ask for guidance throughout the day. Then end the day praying to thank Him for always being with you.

Another way to put God first is to select a verse from the Bible each day, and then focus on it. You could write the verse down, or take a picture of it, and carry it with you; then refer back to it during the day. This is a great reminder of God’s word, that may help you to focus on God throughout the day.

You could also look for ways to help others throughout the day, and share Jesus’ love with them. God want us to love Him, and also love everyone around us. Whether it is simply being kind and giving a compliment to someone, or offering to help a person in need, you have the ability to spread Jesus’ love and kindness each day.

These are just a few of many things that you can do to put God first. Pray about it, and ask Jesus to show you what He wants you to be doing each day, and how to continually grow closer to Him. We are so blessed to have a Lord and savior that is always right there, ready to spend time with us every day. It is my prayer that we can all put God first each day, and as it says in Colossians 3:2, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
